This has self seeded in my garden and I’m nurturing it until I know what it is

It doesn’t seem to resemble anything from my immediate neighbours

Hard to tell, but it looks like it might be a seedling rowan tree. They are lovely and make a good small garden tree that you can trim and keep within bounds.

Birds spread the seeds by eating them, and well, you can guess the rest Grin

I hope it is, I have a small garden and a small garden tree space in it!

Could it be Meadowsweet or something similar?

It grows wild but could be grown in the garden, quite a tall plant.

Not quite right for Rowan. Veins too deeply incised, I think. Straven's is a good call, I was going to suggest the related Goatsbeard Aruncus dioicus

The young growth on my filipendula looks very like that.

MereDintofPandiculation · 20/09/2020 10:22

Filipendula ulmaria is meadowsweet, for those who aren't familiar with both common and scientific names.

Err, yes. It was dinned into me always to use Latin names because common names can be ambiguous and give rise to confusion. Apologies.
