hi,
Back story, my next door neighbour has a zoo (several animals including dogs and cats). They do not clean up after these animals often enough and this summer, they have errected a storage area right next to my fence. I can only assume they have been storing the animals shit in there as it constantly smells horrendous of dog poo and cat litter. They have been spoken to on numerous occasions, they clean and then stop.
I would like to grow something that has a strong scent along said fence that would hopefully mask the smell. I have 2 small dc, so nothing harmful.
Please help me 😁

Nothing will mask it! You must keep complaining! Council? Landlord? Sounds revolting.

Things that are scented-
Jasmine
Honey suckle
Lavender
Thyme
Roses- depends of the variety though

You could have a climbing rose then thyme at the back and then some lavender at the front of a deep border? But both lavender and thyme bush out.

What a horrid situation, I agree with all the above and would add in the spring, planting up pots of scented Lilies.

Thank you for your suggestions.
It is honestly awful, it was bad before (neighbours behind their behind neighbours came storming round as they were fed up of opening their windows and smelling dog poo) but now this storage shed thing is up its unbareable. Not to mention the flies. I counted 25+ on 3 fence panels the other day.
They are in rented accommodation but have no idea who the landlord is, will have to do some detective work.
The amount of times the rspca have been out is shocking. They have a clean water supply and shelter (now). The rspca dont care that their living conditions are neglectful and ive lost trust in them. The council dont care either as they have yet to get back to me.
I really appreciate your help with the suggestions x

Try Environmental Health? Or your local councillors?

viques · 25/08/2020 14:31

Some councils require all rented accommodation to be licensed, if so you can check this on the council website and each entry should have the licensee ,ie the landlords , details.

Either that I would be contacting environmental health. Then the local press.

Urgh - contact environmental health. That is just disgusting.

If you are in England (not sure about Wales & Scotland) you should be able to find out who owns the property through the Land Registry. There is a small fee, about £3 IIRC.
