Lavender dying (pic attached)

Novice gardener alert!!! Lavender is in pots and did really well over summer - bees loved it. About a month ago flowers stated to turn brown and I wondered if I'd over watered during hot spell. But it never recovered. Flowers browning and just not looking well.

Massive storm and torrential rain this week and this is what it now looks like. Well and truly dead !!! But some healthy green shots below.

What do I do? Is it dead and I check or could I salvage ? If so I want to replant in border to enjoy next year.

Any advice appreciated!! TIA

It;s not dead but not looking too happy!
It could be overwatering as they are plants that thrive in dry conditions with poor soils - think hot parts of the world - south of France, Meditterrean etc

I would tip out any excess water in the pot and cut back the brown bits to where the green bits are and it should come back again.
Put in a sunny spot too.

also drainage - they like well drained soil so has your pot got enough drainage holes in bottom?

Thanks Sashagabadon

I'll try that although no sun forecast here for a bit!

Have you got pot feet under the pot, that can help with drainage too. Lavenders are awkward sods I think, they either take and go on for years or get a bit diva ish and give up the ghost. I tend to think that getting a couple of decent years out of ones in pots is fair game. If you give them a well drained soil, a sunny position and they still choose to die then that is their problem. Another thing to do is check that the pot isn't home to pests like earwigs or vine weevil.
