Monstera plant question

Hi all

I just bought this Monstera plant cheap. See pic. Two questions:

It seems to be leaning in one direction (forward). What should I do to help it up?

Also, see pic of leaf - I assumed that was a new leaf that would 'strengthen.' But is it floppy because it's crap?

Sorry, not a good plant person!

Can't see a pic! But monstera do generally lean – has it got a moss stick in it to grow up?

Cross post, sorry! It needs a moss stick. Or any support at all will do at a push! In the wild, they grow up trees and sprout little aerial roots to help them grab on, so if it doesn't have something to hold onto, it will generally sprawl.

Yeah I'd get a support stick, like a moss stick or even just bamboo cane to tie it to for support. In my experience the new leaves are always a bit floppy and 'crap' to start with 😂 but mature quite quickly

Sorry, crap was the wrong word. poor plant. I need to love it.

Thanks - will get a stick!

No they do look crap sometimes!! Anaemic and floppy 😂 it'll perk up I'm sure 😊

Also, keep it away from your walls. The aerial roots will enthusiastically root into your plaster, and make a mess of the wall when you discover their evil deeds and try to pull them away! I speak from bitter experience...
However, if you are lucky, your Monstera may one day reward you with an edible fruit - hence its full name, Monstera deliciosa. Mine grudgingly produced one in 30 years, but I do live in Scotland, so had no great hopes! I’ve seen Monsteras wild in Barbados- they circle round and round a tall tree until they have climbed high enough to reach sunlight, so they look like a very long coiled spring with leaves on top!

Thanks Babdoc! I have just pulled it away from the wall!
