Repositioning compost bin. Near the house?

I need to reposition my compost bin. Its original position at the bottom of the garden was once fairly sunny until about 3pm, but is now in deep shade all day long. It's also so hidden from view that it's inconvenient to get to.

I have 3 possibilities:

a) A south/east-facing corner of a bed that gets sunlight almost all day long. I'm going to plant a fig there, so it will be under the fig in a few years. It's also about 1.5m from a window.

b) A west-facing bed where not much grows ATM other than a Japanese maple, but there are mature trees at right angles to the south of it, so it is not in full sun for much of the day. More hours of sunlight in winter because the trees loose their leaves.

c) A sheltered, paved courtyard that gets virtually no direct sunlight, but is well-ventilated so it is not musty or damp. It has a tendency to flood in really heavy downpours, but drains very quickly.

Opinions?

All else being equal, I'd go for b). You can do better things with a), and I don't think the flooding in c) would be great. But above all else, I'd go for whichever was nearest to where I'd use most of the compost.

I'm not sure my bins get any sun but I get good compost - I've been using my compost for containers all summer and getting as good results as from bought compost.

Does much grow under a fig, though?
