Lavatera rust, again!

Hi everyone, I have two Lavatera Bredon Springs. Last year they were affected by rust disease so we cut them back to ground level. They came back beautifully this summer, albeit a bit floppy due to rapid growth. I staked them up a bit and we were pleased.

Now the dreaded rust is back! It's completely taken hold again. I am happy to cut them back again but should I dig them out and put them in a large pot? Or is this a stupid idea :)

I guess I'm worried about my nearby hydrangeas somehow picking up this blight. My husband says leave the lavatera, hack them back and enjoy them again for a limited time next year before they inevitably succumb to the rust again.

We can't decide what to do!

Pic attached of when they were just starting to get going earlier this summer...

Any advice? I'm worrying that rain is going to make matters worse!

It is hollyhock rust, which affects all of that family. There is a lot of information about it on the RHS website.

@yamadori yes thanks for your reply, really appreciated. I know its holly hock rust I was more wondering if it would be possible to pot them after hacking them back.
