Has anyone put a greenhouse under a tree?

I know the advice is not to, but has anyone done this successfully?

I have an empty concrete base in my garden laid by the previous owner; unfortunately, it is under my neighbour’s walnut tree. I could cut back some of the branches but could not avoid a substantial overhang without ruining the shape and canopy of the tree (it is huge but beautiful).

It would be rather pointless, your seedings will not get enough light and the glass will be covered in verdigris

I suppose you could use artificial grow lights, if you have electricity, but that rather defeats the object of a glasshouse.

Depends on how much light it gets and where it is positioned..mine is by a large hedge, and a friends under a tree and both are fine due to the positioning. It’s not ideal but not a major issue either

Look at how much light you get and when (across the day and year).
Alternatively pop a garden shed or summerhouse on the base and paint it so it's pretty.

It is south facing and gets a reasonable amount of light as the tree canopy is high.

@FaceOfASpink I would love to do that but even the greenhouse would be stretching my budget

Mine is pretty overshadowed, but more from the sides. It gets sun to the roof for a good few hours each day. It really is a question of how many hours a day will the sun hit it.

My greenhouse is in full sun all day - unfortunately it boils in there on hot sunny days. Even if I put shade nets up, it is on a rise and gets sun from first thing to late evening. It's too much for many plants though tomatoes are ok but I do get splitting due to not keeping on top of the watering in such heat, which is hard to do.
I think you will be fine. Is there any other shade apart from the walnut. You might get more direct sun in the spring and summer when the sun is lower in the sky, but then you get the heat in the summer - will probably be fine imv.
