This beautiful allium came with the garden when we moved in a few years ago. At least I assume it's an allium. It is about 1m tall, flowers in mid July and the bumble bees seem to adore it. I would love to plant some more but haven't been able to identify it. Any suggestions?
Thank you lovely Mumsnet gardening experts!

Looks like Alium Roseum not quite fully open.

Thanks @beebumble2
I don't think it is. The little flowerlets look too small for Allium Roseum. Here's my (admittedly chubby!) little finger for scale

Don’t know then. Very pretty though

Googlin Allium white gives things like Allium "White Giant" and Allium "White cloud" which look similar. Or if it's actually pale pink, try Allium nigrum "Pink Jewel"

No idea but it looks glorious can you harvest the seeds

alphaechokiwi · 16/07/2020 18:19

Thanks for looking @MereDintofPandiculation
I've been searching white alliums too. I don't think it's any of the varieties you mention. The flowers on mine are very delicate little bells with little grey longitudinal markings and also it flowers in July rather than spring...

@GreyGardens88 I've never tried to harvest allium seed... They seem different to the bulbs. I'm guessing unless it self pollinates the seed won't be true in any case. I'll have a Google....
I might try contacting one of the specialist allium nurseries to see if they can identify it...

More extensive googling... I think it might be elephant garlic! I'm going to try planting some more bulbs and see if I get the same.

Thanks everyone
