I don't even know what it is? But there looks to be some new growth! It's been in our garden since we moved in in February and I thought it was dead...

It’s a Hydrangea, poor thing. It won’t really grow from the dead bits.
They like a semi shade position, so I’d move it, cautiously prune off the really dead bits, water well and give it a feed of something like Miraclegrow. It should start sprouting from the base and probably won’t flower this year, but keep looking after it and you should have lovely flowers next year.

Yes, exactly wot she said!

Yes - hydrangea. They're lovely!
Hope you can keep it going, OP.

Wow! It’s looking so much better already.

I think it’ll be lovely next year if you keep looking after it and watering it regularly.

Beebumble2 · 19/06/2020 17:18

That’s fantastic, and a little flower! The stems from the base will be the flowering shoots next year.

And even better today! It's my little fighter

It’s well on the road to recovery. Hydrangeas are expensive plants, I have about 10 in pots, all rescue plants from the dead plant corner in garden centres. With care the all come alive again.

@Beebumble2
Rescuing plants from the dead plant section of the garden centre and reviving them is one of my favourite “hobbies”.

I have 8 lovely hydrangeas, 4 in pots. They all "died" 2 years ago when we went away for 2 weeks during the heatwave and we had nobody to water the garden. I seriously thought they'd had it but clipped them back, fed them and 2 years later they are all massive and flowering beautifully. It was worth the effort and really rewarding to nurture them back to life! Well done OP! Smile
