HI

Can you help identify this tree? Also does it look poorly? The branches seem to be falling off.

Looks like ash from the leaves assuming they’re pointed at the end?)

Can’t tell you if it’s healthy but it is normal to drop branches in dry weather.

Looks a bit like Robinia.

chickedeee · 02/06/2020 17:31

Robinia?

NanTheWiser · 02/06/2020 18:17

Robinia, they have rather brittle branches prone to breaking, which can be dangerous to anyone below.

florentina1 · 02/06/2020 18:39

Robinia Frisa. Wait till autum and then you can prune it. I have two of them and i do trim it through the year if it looks brittle.

florentina1 · 02/06/2020 18:41

If by poorly, you mean that the leaves are turning yellow and looking a bit sparse, that is a feature of the tree. It is nothing to worry about. They will need a lot of water this weather.

I was thinking gleditsia. I used to have one and it was dying so I sadly had to remove it. They are prone to losing branches though so that's not necessarily a problem.

Chillipeanuts · 02/06/2020 20:14

That’s odd, from the close up of the leaves I’d have sworn wisteria, but that’s obviously not a tree!
Please let us know if you find out.

Hi all!

I thought it might be a honey locust but can’t figure out the difference between the honey locust and Robinia. How would I be able to tell the difference? Can I get you experts a better picture?

Also I say poorly because the trunk looks odd and lots of the smaller branches are falling off. Keep finding twigs on the floor.

I’ll take a picture of the trunk in the morning and post it!

Thanks

Robinia. The branches are falling due to the ‘June drop’. Lots of trees do this - shed branches at this time of year. It’s normal and nothing to worry about.
