Repotting an orchid.

I was given an orchid almost two years ago, and I’ve managed not to kill it! In fact it seems to be growing more leaves and I had a flower from it this year. I think it needs repotting.

Do I really need to buy special orchid compost. It’s the only one I have and I’m only going to need a tiny bit?

They rarely need repotting, the roots are air roots that are mostly out of the pot. You should be able to keep it in the same pot for years.
You can get special orchid food.
If you did want to report it you should use special compost which is like loose bark.

They sell small bags of orchid compost on Amazon. You'll need preferably a transparent pot, too, also on Amaz - very cheap.

You will need orchid compost, westlands I find is a good brand. Don't put in a pot too big for it. The roots like to be quite snug. Cut off any dead roots before potting and soak in water for an hour (they like being drenched like in the rainforests). Drain any water and then water a small amount weekly. I've had some of mine 8 years and they are still flowering. When you get a chance spray the leaves with water every month or so.
