I bought this dandelion weeder earlier this year and I love it.

It lives by my back door and I take it out with me on the way to the bins and dig out a dandelion or ( two or three) on the way, or I just go for a wander round the grass if I'm at a loose end and look for zig zaggy leaves to dig up. So satisfying.

Are there other tools I should know about? Tell me what else I need in my garden bag!

Compost turner- like a giant corkscrew with a bend in the top to get traction. I just screw it in a couple of times when I add new waste. It stops the flies and keeps it aerated. So much easier than a fork.

Great thread. Felco secateurs, border spade and (cheating a bit) Wolf multi tool with hoe, rake and ‘tickler’ ends. The last one was a tip from a jobbing gardener - a three-pronged things a bit like the handheld one pictured up thread. Use it to tickle the soil after you’ve weeded a border - turns over the top layer around plants to reveal fresh dark earth, and looks like
you’ve done loads more work than you have.

I could have certainly done with a hori hori knife today. Battling an ancient rose root from next door 's garden which has gone to briar and suckered under the hedge. I didn't understand why I kept getting jagged cutting the hedge, and now I know. What a job, and so thorny. Tiny little deadly bristles.

It so interesting to hear what other people value and get hints and tips. I now have a long list of things I clearly desperatley need.
