Blueberries advice please!

Attached are some snaps of my blueberries. This is the second year I’ve had them and they are fruiting this year which I’m very excited about.

As I have no idea what I’m doing I didn’t prune them or anything last year, just shoved 3 plants in per pot and then let them do whatever.

Now clearly they don’t look much like bushes. They are long almost single stems with some fruit on. How should I manage these to encourage more growth next year? Do I prune right back after fruiting? Or will they develop over time? Should I plant up individually in bigger pots?

I’ve got blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries now and I am working it out to some degree as I go along. TBH I didn’t hold much hope for these blueberries based on the poor uneven growth last year but now they are fruiting I want to help make them better!

TIA

I would plant them individually in 3 pots about the same as rather one you’ve got, using ericaceous compost.
I don’t prune mine only tidy up if necessary in the winter, you don’t want to cut off the fruiting branches for next year.
They do tend to grow in a straggling form. It depends which varieties you have. One of mine is neater than the other. Don’t forget to feed them with ericaceous feed.

Thanks! Assuming I should re-pot next year and not now? Given they are in the middle of producing fruit?

I think I will treat myself to some nice pots for them to go in. They are just in plastic pots at the moment.

I wouldn't do anything to them for now because they are fruiting. I'm not a blueberry expert but I feed mine with ericaceous feed every year. I haven't pruned mine yet and I've had them 3 years. Weirdly I have one plant which produces a lot more fruit than the other.

Good luck! Home grown blueberries are delicious.

are you watering them only with rainwater? I was told to do that, so now I remember not to use all the rainwater on the other plants!

When I’ve got some I am yes. Haven’t got a water butt yet though
