Does anyone know what tree this is please? I saw it in someone’s garden and it would be perfect for an area I am replanting. I tried looking on the internet but there are so many types of blossom trees!! Any help in narrowing it down would be much appreciated.

It could be a crab apple tree as mine is currently in full bloom like that, but really it could be loads of things. A photo of the leaves in a few weeks would help.

Amelanchier? Bit too far away to tell really.

I would concur with Amelanchier, but, yes, if yòu can get a close up, that would help a little with a positive id

Ooh yes, it could well be Amelanchier! I will have a walk that way again and see if I can get a closer picture when it’s likely to have some leaves.

Thanks all!

Two alternatives, which both produce masses of blossom for pollinating insects, and later in the year, berries for the birds, would be Rowan (Mountain Ash) or Whitebeam. Neither will get too big and invasive if kept under control.

For autumn leaf colour I think you have to go a long way to beat Liquidamba (American Sweet Gum) and they smell gorgeous into the bargain

Than you, I’ll have a look at those too.
