What is this wildflower please?

There's a lot of this wildflower coming out in places on a local walk at the moment. I've got a bit in a dark corner (the start of a woody pruning pile is behind it) - nothing much else grows there so I've left it, as although it's not showy it's nice foliage and quite elegant imo. It's been there a couple of years without spreading unduly so I've decided it's not a weed.Grin

It looks as though it might have cultivated cousins but I'm darned if I can think what it might be...any idea please?

I think it could be aquilegia

Wbeezer · 27/04/2020 14:55

Its tellima grandiflora, it is grown as a garden plant and also found as a wildflower. It good for filling gaps in shady corners, i let it self seed at the back of borders i have under trees.

I think it’s a heuchera. They come in all sorts of colours - I have some that are very similar in shape but have more reddish leaves.

FlamingoAndJohn · 27/04/2020 15:00

Not heuchera or aquilegia I don’t think.
I don’t know what it is mind you.

Wbeezer · 27/04/2020 15:00

Its from North America but has escaped from garfens and naturalised in some places so not strictly a wildflower.

Wbeezer · 27/04/2020 15:02

In the same family as Heuchera similar in some ways but not the same.

tellima grandiflora

Ah, that's it. I see it's aka 'fringe cups' and it's a naturalised American escapee.

Good! I shall definitely let it have that corner.

Thanks.Smile

I've got loads of aquilegia too, self seeding all over the place but in the sun.

Yes, the form is quite like heuchera, another Saxifragaceae - personally I'm not very keen on the dark red leaved ones.
