Grow bag companion for tomatoes?

What would you plant with the tomatoes? I've plenty of space, and a variety of seeds but not really sure what would be best. Any ideas?

Basil? Apparently it keeps white fly off the tomatoes, and then you can cook them together!

Grin cooking advice too! I'll have a rummage in the seed packets and see what's there

I second basil! You can just split up a supermarket pot if you've no seeds

Ye, marigolds (Tagetes not Calendula) are recommended, I think as whitefly deterrent. But if basil does the same job, then it's dual purpose, as it goes excellently with tomato.

Incidentally, I've discovered that Nicotiana sylvestris has stick leaves, which work as a fly trap for fungus flies, so that's what I have growing as a companion plant around my greenhouse.

Anything quick growing, as you don’t want them to dominate when the tomatoes get big.

Rocket seed, supermarket herbs (already established, pick and use this month or next) or radishes.

Thanks for the ideas. A mini herb area sounds lovely and I have various salad seeds too

In my experience Tagetes don't attract a lot, possibly a few hoverflies. I'd have though basil might actually be better. It's in the dead nettle family as are many of our insect-friendly flowers such as lavender and thyme.

Well the tomatoes I've planted out have grown already (v sheltered, full sun til early evening) but it's currently far too much effort to go and find the seeds I've got stashed away from last year Grin
I do have a solitary marigold in a pot I could pull round to keep the veg company
