Should I risk moving a hydrangea now?

I’ve got a mature lace cap hydrangea in my bricked lightwell (we live in a basement flat) which thrives on benign neglect except in the hottest part of summer when it needs a drink.

I want to move it forward by about 1.5 ft as I’d like to grow a climber up the back of the lightwell & need the space that the hydrangea currently occupies. It is in leaf again and looking quite healthy. Does anyone know how risky it would be to move it now?

I wouldn’t. If it’s managing where it is, it clearly has a good root system they need a shed load of water to cope. My MIL sprays says the Clue is in the name!

It can be done if you’re prepared to give it a shit load of water every few days until it’s re-established. That could take until the autumn unless we suddenly get a lot of very wet weather.
