What's the best use for leaf mould?

I've just excavated quite a few bags of leaf mould in various vintages from a dark corner that I need for piling up prunings that I can't take to the dump. Some of it isn't ready yet (still quite leafy) but some looks remarkably like compost.

Is it best to just use it as a mulch between plants on the borders? Should I add fertiliser (I think I've got some slow release granules) before, or mixed in.

I dig it into my vegetable beds - lovely stuff.

Unfortunately I have no vegetable plot and it's too warm for digging.Grin

use it as mulch.
earth worms will do the digging in for you

Buy yourself a load of choice alpines and woodland plants- lots of them love leaf mould! I use my limited supply for my cobra lillies (arisaema) I’m jealous, it’s great stuff.

Use it as mulch, especially where you have heavy soil, clay or puddles. Let the worms do the work.

I do have some heavy clay. Good, mulching it is then. Thanks!
