and, no, I’m not overwatering !

  1. what is causing it?
  2. how do I stop it? and
  3. does it matter?

Online gives diametrically opposed views - from a) it’s a result of organic material being in the compost, no biggie, just unsightly (which can be addressed by some fine gravel around the plant), to b) 😮 OMG,, repot the plant and remove it from other plants, to c) discard & destroy!

I'm in the no big deal camp. Mulch with grit or pebbles and forget about it.

You could experiment with using slightly less water too.

If the plant looks healthy the it department s probably fine, mine do this and no problems .I remove the top right nch or so if compost every spring and top up with fresh unless it needs reporting.

HappyHammy · 10/02/2020 22:52
