Just found this evergreen vine type plant wending its way up a dead bit of leylandii hedge. It’s probably reaching around 8ft tall. The leaves are matt/semi waxy and the biggest leaf is as long as my index finger.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Bump for you. I do not know that plant, but maybe someone reads this soon, who knows.

Thanks for the bump Cheesecake53
Neighbour thought maybe Virginia creeper but it hasn’t got the five-leaf format. And it didn’t go red in autumn, so a bit of a mystery.

Bay laurel?

Palmysterious · 24/01/2020 19:29

Bay laurel leaves look so very similar. But does it climb up like a vine? Interesting. Thanks.

Honeysuckle

Palmysterious · 25/01/2020 15:42

Thanks. Hope so, I love honeysuckle. It’s in a west facing position and hopefully will thrive.

Yes, I thought honeysuckle, one of the evergreen ones. The fact it has opposite leaves, rather than leaves growing alternately up the stem, narrows the options quite a bit.

I thought honeysuckle too!!

If you have an IPhone there is a great free app on the store (can't remember which one it is now as downloaded it for my dad) that you take a photo of the plant and it identifies it for you

I've used the PlantSnap app successfully before.
