No I dont think you can.

Isnt the fruit bit what you use to spread more seeds?

Possibly

They are beautiful though.

i have one that has appeared from nowhere, they are gorgeous, and definately doing very well this year.
My RHS encyclopeadia says " many species have egg shaped to rounded, fleshy, edible fruits that mature to orange or yellow in autumn"
Not very helpful, sorry.

The most common "garden type" passionflower (cream flowers, purple, green & white middles) does have edible fruits, but they're not particularly tasty - and really not worth bothering about.

Hi - I am new to this section - feel like an imposter but I do have a garden so I know I'm in the right place!!
I was about to post about PASSION FLOWERS then I saw this thread so jumped on board.

Basically I love passion flowers they are so beautiful and I am absolutely fascinated by the - their different phases - how they can look so different at different times of year.

What I would like to know is when can I plant one in my garden (the common purple one orange fruit). I have a shed I would like to grow one up - I know I'll have to get some trellis.

And also (or is this too cheeky??) would anyone be able to send me a couple of cuttings??

Bambi06 are you still about?? Yours sounds particularly rampant!!

All advice appreciated x

passion flower fruit can be eaten but to get a good sized/tasted fruit you need to grow them under glass. There are other varieties like Constance Elliot and Grandiflora that have spectacular flowers and still bear fruit, but i don't think they are edible. (i could be wrong though)

Passiflora edulis is ok for eating.
