Climbing plants for new trellis

I am going to put a large trellis up to cover up a large side wall of my neighbours garage.

I'm trying to decide what plants to use. I'm thinking of using 2 or 3 to add variety and blend them together. They would need to be plants that don't sucker onto the bricks as I don't want to damage their wall.

I absolutely love californian lilac and have recently discovered that you can get pink and white varieties and there are climbing varieties. I'm just worried about overdoing it as since discovering this plant I've planted a LOT of it. I love it and the bees love it!

I just want to explore all options before just using my beloved californian lilac! 😊
I already have a wall of jasmine and clematis so would rather not use these again on this side.

The wall gets full sun in the summer probably for 3/4 of the day, and in winter for 1/2 the day and I intend to plant them into the ground at the base of the wall, though I would be open to using pots if these would be sustainable.

I would rather have evergreen, but I'm happy to ignore this if it has a stunning impact, like the californian lilac.

How about an evergreen honeysuckle?

You could try cotoneaster? Evergreen but not a lot of impact. I would go with your lilac.

Second the honeysuckle. We have a yellow and white one in our back garden, and at this time of year it smells heavenly in the evening after a warm day.

Can I recommend Trachelospermum jasminoides, star jasmine, it has a heavenly scent and bright white starry flowers. It is evergreen with glossy leaves turning red in autumn.

I have a pink ceanothus and it is lovely. It isn’t evergreen though.

You can get red and pink jasmine if you don’t want white again.

You can train a solanum to climb. Purple and white varieties. I have two and the purple one in full sun does great, very long flowering period.
