Forget Me Nots

My beloved cat had to be put to sleep last week. The vets have sent me a packet of forget me not seeds which I'd like to plant but don't know when. I have a small patch of garden that is well sheltered in the winter and spring and gets lots of sun in the summer, can I sow them here? Any advice or tips gratefully received.

You can scatter the seed now, and it should come up next year. That is what happens naturally with Forget-Me-Nots, they are seeding now.
I am very sorry about your cat.

Oh bless you, what a lovely idea. Good advice from Vix. You could also keep a few seeds back and plant them in a pot in March / April depending on spring weather, just to be sure, and then transplant them to your preferred spot.

So sorry about your cat Flowers

Poppies like freshly disturbed soil so dig over an area before you scatter the seed. I should think now is about the right time to sow them (they're seeding now).

Sorry about your cat❤️
When I was little we had forget me nots coming up year after year on our rockery. They seemed to like sun and shade. I always do some seeds in a pot too in case a Wiley insect eats the seeds. I often seem to lose seeds

Yes you can scatter poppy seed now or next Spring. You could also plant an oriental poppy, there are beautiful white ones, or a dusty mauve called “Patty’s Plum”. The oriental would be a perennial, rather than an annual like field poppies.

Poppy seeds to tend to survive better if you plant them in Spring (and surround them with slug deterrents). You can buy lovely poppy plants too. That was nice from the vet and very sorry about your lovely cat.

Thank you all for your advice and sympathies. She was very special to me and her passing has been a shock. With your help I will now have a special way to remember her. Thanks

Forget-me-nots once sown will come back every year in different places, so you will always have some scattered about your garden each April. Poppies will do the same if they like your garden, or if you plant orientals the plant will come back in the same place.
This is the lovely oriental i mentioned that is in flower now .www.sarahraven.com/flowers/plants/perennials-autumn-planting/papaver-orientale-pattys-plum.htm
