Just planted new flowers - how often to water?

I’ve just planted two pots of lavender, a max midget and a yellow rose into one of my flower beds. How often do I need to water them in this weather to ensure they don’t die? Thanks so much!

Is 'max midget' the lavender variety or something else?

Anyhow, with the forecast heat I'd give them a good soaking every evening. It may thunder, but they can be localised and not always deliver as much water as you might think - it can be an idea to leave a bucket or suchlike out to get an idea of actual rainfall.

It is also a good idea to mulch with gravel or bark as this keeps the roots cool and stops evaporation

Once a day for sure. And a good soaking at that. Pots require much more than you might imagine. They dry out quickly compared to plants which are in the ground.

Sorry, that was a typo - I meant mars midget...!

Iamtoo - they’re actually planted in my flower beds, not in pots.

Every day in the evening if there hasn’t been much rain. When they have been in for a couple of weeks you only need to do it if it’s been dry for a few days. In all cases give a good soaking with a hose, or a whole watering can on each plant if you don’t have a hose. You can’t over-water anything (that’s not in a pot, and even then it’s difficult to do that in summer).

Just be careful not to overwater the Lavender. The most common cause of Lavender plants dying is overwatering. They like quite dry conditions. X
