The new growth on my acer is losing its variegation

My mum bought me a 10pence acer in Morrisons a few years ago. Bargain. I don’t know what variety it is but it is variegated, and I have had it in a pot on my sunny patio (gets sun from about 2pm until dusk) for a few years. I have potted it on, but not recently. I know that variegated plants lose chlorophyll, but it is getting plenty of sunlight and has grown well, albeit slowly. I water regularly. Everything else does really well in my patio and I don’t want to lose it as I feel very attached to it!

Maybe it is a shade loving Acer, many of them are.

The variegated ones don't like full sun. Put it somewhere shadier and it will be much happier.

Aaaah. Thank you. Now I need something new for my patio! I have a lot of sun in the garden which is generally a good thing, but I really don’t want to lose my 10 pence acer.

If it is just parts of the new growth it could be reversion and will need pruning off or it will out compete the variegated bits. Google it for some pics and if that is what it is.

If there are twigs or branches with absolutely no variegation like photo then it has reverted, and these parts will need to be removed now or they will take over the whole plant
