Blackberry confusion

We’ve got a blackberry growing in our garden called black satin. It’s supposed to grow on floricanes - 2nd yr wood, which it has done and given a rather magnificent crop of berries, now waiting to ripen.

However a cane shot up in early spring and now it’s about 3-4ft and already has buds on it for flowers. I understand it’s a self fertile variety but I didn’t think it could do both primocanes and floricanes at the same time.

Is there a chance this other cane grown from the roots very close to the other cane could be a different thornless variety or is my plant just confused?!

I think fruiting on second year growth is a characteristic of brambles in general, the first year cane being basically for hunting out new territory. So I would tend to assume that's it's a reaction to early vigorous growth in a warmer than usual spring.
