Looks like a bramble to me

Beebumble2 · 09/06/2019 17:06

Could it be a self sown Gooseberry Bush?

LarryGreysonsDoor · 09/06/2019 17:07

Ah I hadn’t thought about gooseberry.
It grows every year but I cut it back.

I don’t think it’s the right kind of leaves.

I don't think that's a gooseberry.

MereDintofPandiculation · 11/06/2019 18:32

Definitely not gooseberry or bramble, but no idea what it is.There aren't that many ornamental shrubs with spines.

LarryGreysonsDoor · 11/06/2019 19:22

It grows like a bastard. I can’t dig it up.

Sloe? (Blackthorn). Let it grow and you can make gin...

Beebumble2 · 11/06/2019 21:11

Not a sloe, wrong leaves. Sloes are related to plums and Damsons.

aircooled · 12/06/2019 10:28

New plum/damson/sloe foliage can look like this when growing back after being pruned hard. OP will have to wait and see!
