Mulching with grass clippings?

Rank amateur here. DH is mowing the lawn and is adamant that he should spread the clippings around my plants (courgettes, tomatoes, cucumber, blueberry, blackberry, raspberry). I can't see anything definitive online about whether to do this, how (density/coverage) and anything else to keep in mind. Does anyone do this, and can you advise please?

I mulch under the hedge with grass clippings. I would make sure you leave space around the plants as grass will heat up as it decomposes.

Don't use grass clippings on your flower beds if you have treated the grass with anything - especially lawn moss treatment or weedkiller!!

I agree with not using it if you have used any herbicides on it.

And yes I use lawn mowings around all my plants all the time. You can put it on about 3-4 inches deep, and in a week it will have shrunk down and provide a good coverage to keep the weeds down and the moisture in.

I have done so this year, around my raspberries. They have so much fruit,, it’s unbelievable. Make sure the earth is moist before you mulch

Thanks all. 3dogs that's encouraging!

I keep thinking about doing this, and didn't realise you could put so much around the plants! I think now is an ideal time to do it since all the rain we've had.
