Has my lavender had it?

Hi,
Could anyone give me advice about my lavender please? Is it dying?
I bought around 2 months ago but have not been looking their best for about 2 weeks.
I repotted a few days ago to add the new plants in the centre. Also tried to remove the worst of the dead bits but they are still not looking any better.
They are in my south facing very sunny (hot) balcony. In the containers it is ordinary compost and a few bits of broken pots.. I read somewhere this helps with draining. I've been watering x1 per week using a 2 litre watering can and plant food.
Can I revive them or do I need to throw away and buy some new ones (or something completely different)?

...am also posting another thread about my shabby garden if anyone can help?
Many thanks

It could be several problems. Have your pots got drainage holes in the bottom? Some plastic pots are sold without holes and you have to make them yourself (hammer and large nail, or a drill). They should be allowed to dry out totally between watering, and then watered very sparingly.
You could be overfeeding them. They shouldn't need plant food for several months if they are planted in fresh compost..
They could have been subject to cold winds or heavy frost, but as they are flowering and have since wilted, probably not. They do like a sheltered spot though.
Finally it could be a fungus (fusarium I think it's called).
Whatever it is, they really look as though they've had it. I would get rid of them and don't reuse the compost in case it is harbouring a fungus. Lavenders do better in a terracotta pot with a large draining hole, and crocks in the bottom as you have described, then placed in a sheltered spot in full sun.
Your trough would look lovely with some trailing plants, like sufinia petunias and lobelia.

Thanks so much for your advise!
Yes I'm going to bin them! Such a shame, live and learn!

If you have not had rain, and its been hot and sunny then I'd water every other day. Maybe every third day for lavender but black plastic gets very hot in the sun.

You could try trimming it right down with some scissors. I did this with my rather ropey looking lavender and it’s grown about a foot in the last couple of weeks. I’m actually not exaggerating
