Forget-me-nots

I scattered some forget-me-not seeds in my flowerbed a couple of weeks ago and covered them with soil, but can't see any growth at all. Is there any chance they could still come through, or have they not worked? I haven't watered them much at all since planting - could that be the problem?

I think forget me nots are over for this year, aren't they? You may not see anything until next year. Be warned: they will take over if you're not ruthless about pulling them up when they've finished flowering, before they have time to drop their seeds.

Thanks Anna - oh no, sounds like I've missed the boat! I absolutely love them so will definitely have to be ruthless.

Mine usually seem to pop up in autumn, so all is not lost yet! They do take over as AnnaComnena says, I've just been pulling up some plants that have almost finished, as I don't want them all over the garden, but they are sure to appear later n the year.

If you plant in the spring they normally won't come up until early autumn. Then again next spring.

I deliberately shake the seed heads in parts of the garden that don't have them yet - I love the sea of blue, tulips and honesty rising above before the perennials have grown up, then just pull out (and shake) when they're over.
