Gardens to visit in early July?

I’d like to take my mum to visit some gardens in late June/ early July. We’ve been to RHS Hampton Court in the past, but I don’t think she’s up to such a long day any more.
Any ideas where we could go? Southern England or Midlands would be ideal.
Thanks!

Beth Chatto or Hyde Hall in Essex. Or great dixter

RHS Tatton Park is a very gentle show, in an open area of parkland, so there isn’t the hemmed in crowd feel. I think it’s my favourite.
Kelmarsh Hall Leicestershire is very pretty, if it’s within your range. Of course there’s Wisley in Surrey, RHS garden.

Sussex prairies are a favourite of ours. Just big enough if your mum is not able to walk far and a nice cafe area and plant shop.

Coton Manor in Northamptonshire is little known and lovely. And does a cracking lunch!!

DailyFailAreTwats · 24/05/2019 20:15

Oh, and the roses at Mottisfont in Hampshire (National Trust) are utterly glorious in season.

Wakehurst Place, Kew's sister is nice and some good cafes.

Oh I am glad!! We were there today too!!

BlueCowWonders · 03/07/2019 07:51

Yes I was @DailyFailAreTwats! Might have even run into you in the Stable cafe (so good we did both lunch and afternoon cake!)
Lots of people there yesterday but it never felt crowded and there were always plenty of seats for elderly Dm

Have a look at David Austin Nursery nr Birmingham if you haven't been there. Absolutely stunning this time of year, all roses planted out in gardens and in flower, nice cafe. Not too big and no entrance fee.

There’s some lovely ones in the Cotswolds. My favourite is probably hidcote
www.nationaltrust.org.uk/hidcote

Batsford Arboretum and Kelmscott Manor are also worth visiting too.

longwayoff · 05/07/2019 07:10

Hidcote is beautiful and is next door to Kiftsgate, home of the famous rose, so you can visit both on same day.
