I’m guessing it’s a weed but the bees seem attracted ...

It’s called Alkanet. It is a weed but I would keep it because I like the little blue flowers and it always seems popular with bees.

It is green alkanet. I know this because I have it and I see it everywhere in my area. It spreads something chronic the moment it flowers and it can completely take over. If you don’t want it to do that, wear gloves to dig it out as touching it without gloves will leave you with an itchy rash. It goes deep, so you will need a spade rather than a trowel/hoe.

My garden was swamped with it a few years ago. We have dig it up whenever we see the leaves - they look a bit like a foxglove’s. Four years later, we have it under control but it does come up weekly.

Yes, spreads / seeds like wildfire so don't be shy about pulling it out.
You can tell the difference between it and foxgloves (which I love) as foxglove leaves are softly hairy, whereas alkanet is like a three day stubble!

Wow thanks everyone! It’s my landlords garden and so I’ll leave it plus the bees do love it and I’ve heard they need help.

You might want to mention it to your landlord as if it spreads (and it will as it is flowering) the garden will be completely overrun. And it isn’t nice for children if they touch it as they will get an itchy rash. There are plenty of bee friendly plants that aren’t anything like as invasive.

@bobtheduvet - I thought that was comfrey? Or can you do it with alkanet too?

Ooh I thought it looks suspiciously like comfrey, I wonder if I could make home made feed for my figs and strawberries?

I think this is what has taken over my garden though mainly leaves and not many flowers!
