Does anyone know what this plant is?

It is shade-loving, and is under trees in my garden. I think it has white flowers. I assume it's a weed, but before I clear it out, I thought I'd check.

Thank you!

PS it's actually quite large and bushy.

If you like it, let it grow and flower.

ColdFingered · 12/05/2019 14:30

I don't like it. I'd just like to know what it is. I've kept it in for about four years, since we moved in, and I feel it's my last chance to identify it before it's gone. Grin

Hi. I don't know
BUT
I've just downloaded an app called "PlantSnap" and done a couple of control pics around the garden.

Take a pic and the app gives closest options that you can then cross reference (if ye want!) with Google images.

Hopefully!

Is it Hydrangea paniculata ?

For some reason I thought it was a hydrangea, but not the big showy ones. Google suggests this one.

the leaves look like philadelphus but not the flower ...hmmm

ColdFingered · 12/05/2019 15:37

Thank you for the replies!

PlantSnap looks interesting. I'll have to have a look at that this evening.

It's definitely not Hydrangea. (I'd keep that!)

The leaf does look a bit like Philadelphus, but it's not that either!

It could be a type of Viburnum.

Beebumble2 · 12/05/2019 17:22

This for example

I agree with Beebumble2, it looks like Viburnum.

sackrifice · 12/05/2019 17:34

It is a cornus.

WobblyLondoner · 12/05/2019 17:45

Another vote for cornus from me.

sackrifice · 12/05/2019 17:48

It doesn't even look like one that is worth saving.

Oik it out and put something nice in there.

NanTheWiser · 12/05/2019 17:52

Check out Viburnum lantana - the Wayfarer tree, it looks like that.

sackrifice · 12/05/2019 18:06

Leaves are too thin for Viburnum.

ColdFingered · 12/05/2019 18:38

Yes, I think it's a Cornus! But not a desirable one, and it's going. Thank you sackrifice. Its leaves are indeed too thin for Viburnum.

Thank you so much!
