Rose stems

Hi,

Yeah have managed to get these Rose stems to shoot (from a bunch I was given). Not sure what is best to do with them now? I have them in water still in a dark glass bottle, no roots as yet but clearly they are growing shoots. The bigger one also has a new bud (circled in red).
Not sure whether to keep them in the bottle with water, plant or what, or where to cut the bottom of the stem off to give them the best chance of rooting. Any advice appreciated.

How long have you had them in water?

A couple of weeks now

Sometimes the new shoots are just the residue, but those look very healthy. I would keep one in the water and another in a pot of soil I would put the stronger one in the soil and bury it so that the top of the soil is over that little nodule just above your thumb. That is where it most likely to root. Also trim the top to just above the new shoot.

With the other one I would also trim it just above the new shoot. Then scrape away some of the outer green around the lower nodule and put it in water so that the nodule just nudges the water line.

I meant to say, keep the one in the pot inside with slightly damp soil.
