It was planted after Christmas, was completely green. It was well watered indoors and not rotten. It's facing west in flower bed, so it may of got dry? It was fine until a few weeks ago now turning brown and dropped a lot of needles. Is 3 ft tall, rotted tree.

Conifers stay green for a very long time while they are dying and it might have already had it when you bought it before Christmas.

Hopefully yours is just struggling with the heat we've had recently and will recover eventually. Have you been watering it much?

I have been recently watering it. I hadn't previous to the last few weeks as it's been so frosty at night.

I have quite lot of small shrubs and flowers in that bed too and they all seem ok except the tree. Alas. Lots of needles have dropped so it doesn't look good.

Did you repot it or leave it in the pot it came in?
Rooted Christmas trees are often dug up and jammed in a pot. In order for them to live any length of time they should be repotted in a slightly larger pot with good quality compost.
Yours is definitely drying out.
Try to repot it now. It should make some growth this year, but might have uneven growth.

Sorry didn’t read properly☹️. It does look as if it’s suffering from lack of water.

It's sort of repotted as it's now in a massive pot planted into the flower bed, so I put in new compost and some of that little sprinkley balls feed. I didn't want it to grow massive as it's by the house, hence the big pot. But it's really big sunk into the ground. The pot has holes, but might mean that it's not getting enough water if the roots were hacked. I don't think it will get a chance to grow massive now. I'll keep watering it and see what happens.

It's such a lovely trees and looked nice in the flower bed.
