Anyone know what tree? Pics

Does anyone know what this is please? The main tree grows over into my garden and loads more are coming up near the tree as well.
All the dead stuff at the top is long trailing weed type stuff (sorry complete garden novice) it seems to really love this type of tree?
It blossoms this time of year with the pretty white flowers.
Any help appreciated!

Does the blossom have a scent? Does it produce fruit of any sort?

SleepyFlump · 27/03/2019 18:39

Blackthorn has white blossom this time of year.

queenrollo · 27/03/2019 18:39

My first guess would be sloe/blackthorn.

SoupDragon · 27/03/2019 18:41

Hawthorn also has white blossom.

yamadori · 27/03/2019 18:47

Looks like blackthorn to me. It isn't hawthorn, the flowers of blackthorn come out first, hawthorn has leaves first and the flowers won't be out for a few weeks yet (that's why hawthorn is called May blossom).

Is the dead stuff all entwined like a climber with fluffy seed heads? If so, it is old man's beard, a native clematis.

PotsOfJoy · 28/03/2019 08:09

That's a plum.

SoupDragon · 28/03/2019 08:48

It has thorns though so it can't be a plum.

SeventhWave · 28/03/2019 17:15

Prunus spinosa, more commonly known as blackthorn or sloe.

(not far off with plum btw, same family)

PotsOfJoy · 28/03/2019 20:56

Nah, that's a plum. Domestica can have thorns. How frequently do you see spinosa with clear stems that you could put a ladder against and only be at the bottom of the crown?

OP: how much of a pain in the arse was clearing up the fruit from this last autumn?

MikeUniformMike · 28/03/2019 21:39

Could it be damson?

sackrifice · 28/03/2019 21:41

What fruit dropped into your garden last autumn?

neww · 29/03/2019 09:01

Thanks for the replies!
No fruit comes from it, and there's no strong scent. The clear up is from all the white petals that fall, loads!
Am I right in thinking thorns like roses etc? Because I would say it's more spikey than thorny?
The vine climber thing comes out in thin green leaves, looking up through the tree its main root is massive! I'll attach a picture of that.

The thorns on the thorny plants mentioned are long spikes. I stabbed a hawthorn one down the side of my finger just the other day!
