Guess what - we have ANTS!!!!

DP has just gone to mow lawn hand has uncovered at least 3 very large ants nests (with proper mounds and all).

Currently dowsing them with boiling water which is going to destroy my lawn. Will put Nippon around the house.

Anything else we can do?

Are these safe for cats? I'd hate to poison my moggies, though I'm fed up with the black ants in my lawn, too.

Have just been given top tip by environmental health chappie (we are totally infested with black flying ants )

melt solid honey in a saucepan - mix in some borax - let it set then smear in areas ants are - brilliant at killing the whole nest although apparently does take a couple of weeks
