Cherry blossom has appeared overnight. What’s early in your garden?

The magnolia tree has flowered, and some daffodils have their flowers now. The rhodendenrums have buds and the wild garlic shoots are through.

Past that it's the usual crocuses and snow drops.

Any chance of a snap of the wild garlic shoots, Bluntness? Something’s appeared in our woody patch and I’m hoping that’s what it is but not sure. Thanks.

Sure...here they are. Different stages, some seem more advanced than others, you can tell it's garlic if you break some off, and smell it.

No don’t think they are then, no obvious odour anyway. Shame, would love some. Did your’s occur naturally or did you, cough, acquire some Grin

We moved here about five years ago and it was already here. It's a night mare, you don't want it. You can't cut it as it's too wet, and it stinks, the bulbs multiply, this weekend we are getting some round up on it, because it's spread over an area we wish to lawn. So hoping that kills it.

Don't get me wrong , it's pretty when it flowers, but it needs to be contained or it spreads far and wide.

JRMisOdious · 19/02/2019 12:46

Yes I guess seeing it in it’s glory in the woods is different to containing it in a domestic garden. I’m a bit weird, love the stink! Thanks for the photo.

My camellia has one beautiful huge flower and tons of buds ready to burst open.

To my utter amazement, this morning I found... a strawberry. It must have flowered on the quiet a couple of weeks ago, and it is now developing a tiny fruit. A miniscule green dot so far, but a strawberry none the less!

BrizzleMint · 23/02/2019 12:06

We've got no leaves on our magnolia yet but it, the willow and the mountain ashes have many buds. The daffodils, crocuses and snowdrops are out and the poppies are growing their leaves very quickly, the frogs have come out of hibernation in the last couple of days.
We had strawberries in January last year but none yet so far. The passion flower plant has been growing very quickly, it's snaking up the buddleia and the jasmine plant is growing massively and doing the same to the other buddleia.

Everything seems to have burst into life this week. So exciting!!!

Don't waste the wild garlic - it's brilliant to cook with. Use it like you would spinach.

I had wild garlic pesto last year and it was delicious!

Orangeday · 23/02/2019 12:10

Wow strawberries! Must check those. I have leftover flowers from last year that have resurfaced between the weeds.

My rhubarb is going mad I could probably sit and watch it grow! And my sweet peas are on the up! Wow!

MaidofKent78 · 23/02/2019 12:17

Ironically the rhubarb is the only thing not putting in an appearance yet!!

SauvignonMum · 23/02/2019 12:31

I have a young camellia that has bloomed, it's fabulous.
The older, red one is very weak and fails to bloom; maybe just the odd flower.

All spring flowers - daffodils, crocuses etc

Magnolia is very close.

Snowdrops are just gone

Everything else is budding!

Georgiemcgeorgeface · 23/02/2019 12:34

Gorgeous (sorry for rubbing it in)

Bluntness whereabouts in the country are you? We're fairly far south but have not so much as a leaf on our magnolia yet.
