Watering my floor boards with nematoids?!

We are in a bit of state- 1930's house, this time last year DH got rid of horrid carpet in the lounge and sanded and varnished nice old floor boards. It is not pristine and there are some gaps between boards, not massive and certainly no more than 2-3mm max. All ok 'cept for a few drafts in winter but in the last week we've come downstairs to slime trails over the rug in the lounge. And last night we were up a bit later than normal but did have lights on and lo and behold Mr. massive brown slug appeared from no-where and began slithering across the rug! I got Dh to chuck it out and he reckoned that was it but this morning there was even more slime trails than ever. It is pretty grim as my dd's sit there and play. Not sure what to do? Can't and won't use slug pellets in the house with dd's around. In the long term dh is going to fill in the gaps and re-sand but that is a big job and I can't see it happening for some time. Mum says lift up the floor boards and throw down a few lettuces . The only thing I can come up with is... getting some nemaslug and watering the floor boards in the hope it goes through the cracks in the floor boards!! What do you think? any other suggestions? Have rolled up the rug tonight but don't like the little slimers in the house.

nematodes need to live in the soil to work - you would have to lift the floorboards and water the ground underneath BUT BUT BUT it is pretty unlikely there is bare earth down there - the slugs may like it there but they are probably coming in from outside through an air brick or something. So not a great solution.

If you can reduce the slug population round the house it should help (and you can use nematodes for that), and if you are of a strong constitution put down beer traps at night (for the slugs, not dh!) and clear up in the morning. But long term you need to stop them getting in.

Is there a door to outside? where do the trails go?

No door to outside - the trails lead back to the floor board cracks. There's not even grass on the other side of the wall outside, it's concrete for about a metre. Evil slimers! Still last night we rolled up the rug and there was much less slime this morning so maybe that will help in the short term and at least the dd's have somewhere clean to sit!
