They've been inside until about a fortnight ago

I think them going out into the garden saved them, as at least they get watered now (by the rain)

I've just harvested DS3's broad bean (yes, one pod with two beans) and cooked it for him as part of his lunch (and shown him the bright red cooking water). Sadly, I don't think he'll be competing with the major vegetable producers soon...
