moving big choisya

I am considering getting rid of this choisya (about 1.7m spread) but feel a bit guilty about it. Is it worth offering it on freecycle? Would it survive being moved?

Oooo, is the what mine will look like when it grows!! Get big don't they!

Really not sure if it will survive.

Whereabouts are you? I want to get a Choisya for our garden. I'd risk it.

Are you getting rid because you don’t like it, it’s in the way of a project or it’s too big?
They do survive drastic pruning, if the size is the problem.
If you’re taking it out, try to make sure it’s well watered before you dig it up and that you’ve got as much foot material as possible. Have a large plastic pot ready with some fresh compost to transfer it to. It may droop for a while, but they’re pretty robust.
I’m sure someone would love to have it.

Root* not foot🤣

I genuinely cannot see that surviving a move.

Can you cut it back so that it doesn't take up so much space?

NotAnEMERGENCY · 08/10/2018 09:32

Yes, I might try cutting it back first (next spring, I suppose) but the photo is basically the view from our dining area and the choosy completely blows the view of the rest of the flower bed all along the fence so ideally I'd want something pretty low at the front end of the bed.

If I do end up getting rid of it completely, I will list it on here and freecycle first and anyone who wants to can take their chances.
