Help me choose some low maintenance climbing plants - I'm clueless!

A gardener/landscaper is about to transform my boring new build garden for us and has asked what kind of climbing plants we want to help cover our 6 foot fence (which will be painted dark grey).

From research so far, I know I want something hardy (we're in Scotland), I don't want a riot of colour (whites with some pops of colour maybe - I like reds, pinks, warm colours), low maintenance, so minimal or no pruning required, preferably to evergreen. Furniture, design of garden etc quite contemporary in style, and it's a city garden. It's south west facing, gets a lot of sun in the afternoon into the evening, though one fence is in the shade a lot.

Can anyone help me with some suggestions? The gardener has suggested clematis, honeysuckle and climbing roses, though I'm erring on ruling out roses due to maintenance required. Neither DH or I are big gardening fans, but would like some interest against the dark fences.

TIA for any suggestions!

A climbing hydrangea might suit the shadier fence. I had a lovely one once. Pretty bombproof.

Montarna?

Hydrangea Seemanii is climbing and evergreen - fairly slow growing to start with. Won't damage the fence either.

Thanks for the posts, I'll have a look at those. All other suggestions welcome too!
