Shrub that will cover a wall

My front garden has a really ugly long wall (marks the boundary from my garden to the pavement) which I'm looking to disguise with planting. Can anyone suggest a shrub that will grow to the height of the wall, (around 3ft) then cascade over the other side? I have a lot of ground to cover as the wall is around 20ft, so I can probably go with a combination of a few different ones. My soil is clay, the front garden gets a decent amount of light all year round and is fairly sheltered.

Thanks!

Russian vine? It's called 'mile a minute' as it grows fast!

Don't plant Russian Vine! You'll spend years regretting it. I'd go for a mixture of things - clematis, climbing hydrangea and some shrubs with different coloured foliage in between and have a bit of patience.

Cotoneaster horizontalis.

Winter flowering Jasmine, lovely yellow flowers during winter.

Passion flower, clematis jasmine. Climbing roses

Ivy if you want an evergreen. Climbing hydrangea is nice too, but will turn to bare branches in the winter, as will clematis etc.

3 ft isn't a very high wall (did you mean 3metres)?

Sarcococca is a nice evergreen plant with delicate fragrant white flowers in winter.

Thanks to everyone who's made suggestions so far. It's a long low wall (not quite waist height from the roadside) so I'm hoping shouldn't take too long to start to cover it. The rest of the garden will most likely end up being wildlife friendly/cottage style, so I like the idea of at least one shrub with berries.

Two evergreen self clingers: Hydrangea seemanii, and Pileostegia viburnoides. The latter irresistible to bees. Both will get to the top of the wall and extend with stiff branches looking for something to attach to.

Also pyracantha for berries, but will need tying to the wall, and pretty inhospitable to handle

Could try creeping ceanothus?

Euonymous fortunei. Variegated green/white or green/gold evergreen shrub which will climb a wall and also serve as a nice foil to perennials planted in front of it. Sarcococca is also nice.
