I have a big area at the end of the garden which is just a utility area. It used to be for the chickens to roam, but then the fox found us so unfortunately they can't free range any more.
We are on clay, so this gets hugely muddy in winter, especially as we need to see to the chickens twice a day. It's shaded by lots of trees. It was clearly used as a dumping ground by previous owners, as we're constantly finding bits of glass and stuff - as a result I don't want to do anything too involved, and I want to keep it fenced off so DC/dog don't have constant access. The rest of the garden comprises a lawn, couple of flower beds, pond and veg patch.
So far I've wondered about getting this Bluebell Woodland mix (www.sarahraven.com/flowers/seeds/new_seeds/bluebell_woodland_mix.htm), sowing it around the tree, up to the fence including the woodpile, and leaving it to become a bit of a wildlife garden. The other side of the low fence at the back is a bank covered in nettles down to a little stream.
Any other (cheap!) ideas welcomed!
