Can anyone recommend a bird feeder for peanuts that the squirrels can still eat from but can't destroy or steal??

I like having squirrels in the garden and don't mind them eating the bird food as well but they're little thieves and vandals!

I have a squirrel proof bird feeder, but I feed the squirrels separately away from it either on a separate feeder or on the fence as they scare away the birds and eat everything. It works ok but they still try and get into the bird feeder when their food is gone.
It would cost a fortune to always have food out for them as sometimes we can have 3 or more squirrels at a time, as well as the tits, robins, magpies and pigeons/wood pigeons.
It’s nice to have wildlife in the garden. I get pleasure from watching them. Hope this helps.

I found some feeders at my local garden centre that had wire mesh and metal top and bottom, with a long metal loop to hang them by.
A bit like this one: www.wildbirdfeeders.co.uk/opus-sunflower-seed-and-peanut-feeder
The long loop was important because to stop the squirrels pulling it off the hook I had to secure it very firmly with wire, so I had have room to pull the lid up to refill it.

I did also invest in a supposedly ‘squirrel-proof’ feeder - see picture....

I wish I had squirrels in my garden, too :) They're so sweet

We have "squirrelproof" seed bird feeder but they were shaking it to get the stuff out so we combined with a baffle which worked until they worked out how to jump from the shed. Blighters. We moved the feeder but the birds don't like it so much as it's more exposed.

We live near a copse and if we feed the squirrels they multiply like rabbits and dig up all the gardens so we try not to!
