Suggestions for a sensory garden? .......& for hedging/shading too?

Nursery stuff again

I am planning a sensory garden - any ideas of plants I will need?

Also I will need to plant some native hedgerow but will also need some cheaper hedging for defining areas etc

Any ideas?

Thanks
KMc

My dad has just reminded me I once found willow fencing which was whithies (sp?) wired together so they were toddler proof once they had been planted

Hmm where did I see that

LOL

Must be fate

Have to dig you out some withy related legends (worked for sa differnet withy family once on the levels, albeit nursing a family member) for story time in the garden

Katymac · 04/06/2007 20:34

Sorry this "sa differnet withy" almost approaches a codism

What did you mean?

sorry lol

I worked for a different withy family.... all the withy growers are in families, forgot you weren't a local LOL!

Katymac · 04/06/2007 20:44

Really - is it a local craft?

Is there anywhere doing that sort of fence cheaper locally?

Do you think that fence laid between fence posts would keep 2-5yos in?

its very much a somerset levels craft! Dunno if youve ever been down there but search on willow man and they ahve a massive willow sculpture by the M5.

I would think it would hold toddlers, but you couild probably check it out with the manufacturers. They're all usually pretty helpful. There's a few around bridgwater- these look good and I know of them.

Both my parents and grandparents are gardening know it alls, they allways say if you dont want a toddler to climb something, plant a slightly spiky (as opposed to great old roses) climber on it

dds have a willow tunnel in their playground

Katymac · 05/06/2007 10:31

I am hovering between a tunnel and a wigwam or tent

Is this the sort of sundial you were thinking of? There's a link to a free sundial making program which you might like to look at (I haven't actually tried it).

Katymac · 05/06/2007 10:50

Wow that is fabulous - Thank you so much for the link
