Hi guys I'm at my wits end I've got two neighbours cats in competition to poo in my flower bed in my garden and the other goes on my front lawn! I've tried the pepper trick and sprayed with water nothings working I got the cat eyes sprays I have a massive dog and even that's not bothering them but I've grown a whole flower bed full of flowers which I planted last year and now there started to bloom but this cat is pooing and then digging them up to bury it

Has anyone else been through this what worked ?' Sad

Fuck all other than getting your own cat

reallyanotherone · 14/07/2018 22:05

Get your own cat :)

notsolittlegrebe · 14/07/2018 22:28

Is there room between the flowers to stick in pea sticks/any sharp sticks?

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/07/2018 12:44

YY to get your own cat. What you describe is two cats both trying to own the space, its the edge of their territory.

They love soft soil to dig in, you could put a ground sheet down and cover in stones or slate. Bark chippings are too much like litter to be a deterrent.

Very sharp sticks everywhere, netting around planter, orange peel, put slugs there with lots of slug pellets to kill slugs quick then dead slugs might put them off. High pitched noise omitted works well too

ijustwannadance · 15/07/2018 12:54

Our new neighbour bought 3 cats with them and 2 more have now joined in shiting in our garden and using my back yard as a short cut/toilet or to sunbathe.

I bought some cheap pellet things from wilko. DP put them out and they seem to work but have to scatter regularly.

I can't even have my back door open because the cheeky fuckers come in the house. I like cats but it annoys that they don't shit where they bloody live.

ijustwannadance · 15/07/2018 12:56

Some people can hear those high pitched noise makers and it is very uncomfortable!

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/07/2018 13:34

Dead poisoned slugs are not going to put a cat off. It'll harm other wildlife though.

Why would that put a cat off? Dead
Slugs don’t have cat repelling qualities. Unless you intend for the cats to eat the slugs/pellets and end up dead too? Along with various other wildlife.

Nothing will work, speaking from experience I hate cats Angry

MarciaClark · 15/07/2018 14:46

I was in the same boat as you up until approximately two weeks ago. One of the neighbours cats repeatedly defecate in my garden and even has the cheek to try and climb through open downstairs windows. I spoke to my next door neighbour as I know they have had problems with the same cat defecating in their garden. They recommended a sonar monitor that sits in your grass or flower beds. Cats hate them because they let off a very high pitch sound that irritates them the minute they set foot in your garden. I got two for £24.99 off of Amazon and I have not seen the cat in the garden since nor have I had a single cat poop anywhere in my garden.

Prior to these sonar repellent I had used everything such as pepper, citrus peels, garden centre cat repellents, Silent Roar etc. Neither my neighbour or I have had the cat back since installing them in our gardens.

falaffels · 15/07/2018 14:55

Please please don't use the high pitched sound thing.

Lots of kids can hear it, and it's really unpleasant for them. It's monumentally selfish.

Disclaimer that I've not tried this one... but apparently cats don't like to go where they think another, bigger cat is around. So ask a zoo for some tiger poo to put around he place. One the moggies have had a whiff of it they'll never be back.

I use pellets from Aldi of all places and they seem to working although now they have moved to the front garden!

BobbinsBoo1 · 15/07/2018 15:01

I have no useful suggestions sorry op. But just wanted to say please don't use the high pitch sound things. My neighbour in our old house used these. Was perfect for him because he couldn't hear it (he was old and deaf) but we couldn't use our garden because we could hear it. Awful sound and not fair to other neighbours or children.
Hope you find a solution

mermaidbutmytailfelloff · 15/07/2018 15:20

lion poo? It is supposed to be a repellant

blackbirdbluebottle · 15/07/2018 15:33

Just asked a few of my friends who live near cats and they all have the high pitched noise emitter and said they were very effective and worked practically instantly they are very cheap and cost efficient too

VelociraptorRex · 15/07/2018 15:57

I used bamboo kebab sticks in my flower beds - stick them in the ground sharp end up at random angles and the cats soon learn, and no annoying sound thingys (that one drive me mad) or chemicals which could harm other critters Smile

Terriblydifficult · 15/07/2018 16:01

I’ve tried most things (for foxes, rather than cats) and this sensor spray is working.

It’s got quite a good range. Basically it scares the shit (!) out of them. I’ve had the satisfaction of hearing a few cats scrambling up the fence after its gone off.

sacredgeometry · 15/07/2018 16:07

A friend of mine had a cat that would come into his back garden via next door and hunt birds in his garden. He got very fed up and put sharpened bamboo canes pointing up to the fence panel the cat invariably used to jump down into his garden.

Lets just say.... the cat did not see the canes before it jumped down. My friends neighbours cat went "missing" and my friend had to do some late night digging.

VelociraptorRex · 15/07/2018 16:14

Shock oh crikey no I didn't do that, just ruined their favourite spots for them!

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/07/2018 16:33

That's terrible, my cats all I've got to love. It would break my heart to lose him and never know.

Dh would be upset too.

Sillybilly1234 · 15/07/2018 16:51

Ask the owner of the cat to come and clean it up. We clean up after our dogs.

Footofthestairs · 15/07/2018 17:13

We had this happening in our front border, and ended up topping it with large chunky stones, too big to be scratched about easily. Stopped the cat straight away, and helps the border retain water as well.
