Long steep border ideas

I’ll try to attach a photo
I’ve removed the grass from a large area which was too sloped to mow properly. Behind the area are 15 large laurel trees. I’d guess the area is 50 ft long and 3 ft deep. It gets lots of sun.
I’m so so undecided about what to plant there and know I’m too late for most things this summer
What do people think please?
Ideas I’d had are tall grasses and verbena in sort of a mauve tall border
Or do I plant a selection of spring and summer bulbs for next year?
I love natural and tall borders and don’t want it to look too formal as the other gardens are cottage style
I don’t want wild flowers as haven’t enjoyed the border I did last year

Have you looked on Pinterest, I got loads of ideas from there. It's a big border and is going to take time to fill, I'd go out and see what you can buy now and throw a load of bulbs in for next year(will be cheaper too), I've just ordered allium and tulips.

If it’s next to a hedge and in the sun all day, it’s going to be very dry - I’d look up drought tolerant plants and see if any take your fancy.
I may be wrong but I was told the base of a hedge is doubly dry because the established hedge roots compete for water and depending on the direction of rain (I know I don’t know what that is either) you get rain shield.

That's a good point sleepymum50 as only grass has been grown there before. It's not in the sun all day just a large proportion. However you're right the ground there is very dry so maybe grasses? I really don't know and as it's a large area I cant financially afford to cock up over and over again!

It's hard to see the area you mean. This could just be how my phone is letting me view your photo but I can only see one pic with a summer house in the foreground.

FraxinusExcelsior there are three photos. The one with the greenhouse is the beginning of the border looking at it straight on. It then goes about 50 ft to the left behind the greenhouse.
Thank you for replying though.
I just cant decide what to do with such a huge area and stay within my budget

You might get some sale plants at garden centres, but you would need to water like mad at the moment. You probably need to investigate what you can grow from seed next spring, most of the website have good collections. It’s a big border! Nasturtiums might be good, colourful and spread like mad!
