Am I killing rose bushes?

I have been asked to water a friends plants for two weeks whilst she's away, the woman is very meticulous when it comes to her flowers and plants!
I have been going every other day and (sometimes everyday when it's hot), I have noticed that her two rose bushes are now dying! One of the bushes is in a pot, if that makes a difference.
Some of the rose heads are just completely dead and others are on their way.
Is this due to my watering skills? Or is this normal during this time of year?

TIA Thanks

P.S.
I'm posting this here as she gets back in two days and I'm worried she'll think I killed them!

Its normal for the individual roses to be over and need dead heading quite frequently - then more buds grow.

I can’t imagine daily watering is too much in this heat. If the leaves and stems don’t look too droopy they are probably fine.

Roses - the actual bloom bit - only last so long and then you ‘deadhead’ them (cut the finished flower off just underneath, at the stalk). The new blooms then open up. It’s not you!

The company I buy my roses from recommends a full watering can per rose bush, per day in this weather, esp those in pots. Agree with others that they just need deadheading. Otherwise the plant puts its energy into forming seed heads, instead of new buds.

Aah, thank you both! Feeling less guilty now. I'll be sure to do some deadheading tomorrow!
