Several of these plant/tree things have cropped up in my garden this year. SOme of them are currently around 3 feet tall but one is around 10 feet so it’s pretty fast growing! We had building work done 2 years ago and the garden is still in a jungle like state for several reasons really, but mainly lack of money to get a gardener in and not having a clue how to tackle it ourselves. Please help and tell me what it is and should I get rid of them? Are they weeds? Or trees?

I could be wrong but they look very much like ash trees. Do they have a greyish green stem?

This is the stem. Ash trees?! No way I have space for several of those! Shock

I would cut them down and use stump killer , they are prob too near the building behind and need to be in parkland or woods.

I am right next to a park so they probably self seeded. Some oak and a green maple looking tree have done the same!

The green maple looking tree is probably a sycamore if it has large leaves. Get rid.

If they are small leaves, then it could be a field maple in which case, you could dig it up, put it in a large pot and grow it as a specimen tree - they don't mind heavy pruning and can look really nice.

Thank you lovely gardeners! So it turns out that I have a huge ash tree overhanging my garden from the park Blush I had no idea it was an ash or that the could self seed so quickly and prolifically! I always thought the tree was a yew - dunno where I got that idea though!
